![]() He is an elite-level endurance athlete, a 2x member of the USA Para National triathlon team, an Ironman World championship finisher, and a high-altitude mountaineer. Dedication to team and selfless service have helped Sam attack many challenges. His life took a drastic turn when he was injured on July 4th, 2005. ![]() Sam served combat tours in Iraq from 2004-2005 and was decorated with awards for valor in combat as well as a Purple Heart. He served with the “Fighting 69th” Infantry Regiment out of New York City and the First Cavalry Division out of Fort Hood Texas and also worked in Army Special Operations. He is a Retired Staff Sergeant in the US Army. Sam Cila serves as The Program’s Operations Chief. “To attack the competition of life you need to focus on hard work, attention to details, and, most importantly, the teammate to your left and to your right… everything that we teach at The Program!” – Sam Sam’s Story: Eric left active duty after eight years of service and received his MBA from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business in 2005. He is also an avid mountaineer and has summited five of the Seven Summits (the highest peaks on each of the seven continents): Mt. ![]() In an effort to raise money for a college scholarship fund set up for the children of his deceased teammates, Eric has completed eight Ironman Triathlons, The Canadian Death Race Ultra Marathon, The Eco Challenge, and The American Birkebeiner Ski Marathon. ![]() In 1999, during a routine training mission to prepare for an upcoming deployment to the Persian Gulf, Eric and his Force Recon platoon were in a helicopter crash that resulted in the death of six of his Marines. After graduation in 1995, Eric went on to serve in the United States Marine Corps as both an Infantry Officer and Special Operations Officer with 1st Force Reconnaissance Company, 1st Marine Division.
